BLIP AND MY DAMN CHANNEL FORM STRATEGIC PRODUCTION AND SALES PARTNERSHIP
NEW YORK, NY – April 24, 2013 – Blip and My Damn Channel, two of the industry’s most established online entertainment companies, have formed a new strategic production and sales partnership. As part of the agreement, My Damn Channel will produce four original comedy series for Blip, including new seasons of My Damn Channel hits Wainy Days and Daddy Knows Best, and two others currently in development. These series will premiere simultaneously on Blip and My Damn Channel in exclusive 30-day windows, before being made available on other outlets, including YouTube.
“My Damn Channel is creating some of the best content online and we are working with them to develop new series and share their existing series with the widest audience possible,” said Blip CEO Kelly Day. “We want people who love comedy to discover great new shows and share them with their friends, and this partnership helps us do that.”
“Blip has a large, loyal audience plus a great management and sales team. Our new partnership brings the best of our original comedy series to more fans and brands,” said My Damn Channel Founder/CEO, Rob Barnett. “The past 12 months have been groundbreaking for premium original programming and we love that more majors like YouTube, MSN Entertainment and Blip are backing us to produce original comedy with great talent.”
Barnett and My Damn Channel Co-Founder/COO, Warren Chao will be on hand at Blip’s Digital Content NewFronts lunch presentation, taking place Wednesday, May 1 at 174 Hudson Street in NYC, along with David Wain and Steve Rannazzisi, stars of these My Damn Channel original series:
- Wainy Days – The Streamy, Webby and NATPE Digital Luminary Award-winning comedy series – one of the most successful on the Internet – tells the story of Wain’s (slightly) fictionalized adventures looking for love in New York City. Guest stars joining Wain (Wanderlust, Role Models, Childrens Hospital, The State, Wet Hot American Summer) in the first five seasons have included Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Jonah Hill, Ken Marino, Rob Corddry, Julie Bowen and more. Produced by Jonathan Stern for Marcus Stansel Productions in association with My Damn Channel.
- Daddy Knows Best – Starring Rannazzisi (The League) as a terrible father who can’t stop lying to his wife (Jade Catta-Preta), season one of this series premiered in 2012. It has gone on to become a break-out hit and one of the most-viewed My Damn Channel original comedy series. Produced by Lowell Shapiro and Mike Dill, Black Box Management, in association with My Damn Channel.
Also announced today, Maria Bamford is joining the My Damn Channel Comedy Network in a new comedy series premiering in May on MyDamnChannel.com and Blip. Ask My Mom! stars the comedian/actor/nice lady in a new show (produced by: PRECISION Production + Post, award winning creator of branded entertainment for FX, Disney, Fox Sports Network, Epson and Honda among others). Bamford, hailed by Judd Apatow as "the most unique, bizarre, imaginative comedian out there right now," won rave reviews for her most recent comedy special, and will have a recurring role in the new season of Arrested Development premiering May 26 on Netflix. She was recently a recurring guest on FX’s Louie, and is a voice actor for the award-winning animated series, Adventure Time (Cartoon Network) and Word Girl (PBS), as well as Kung Fu Panda and Legend of Korra – both series for Nickelodeon. In Ask My Mom!, directed by Precision’s Joe Arnao, Maria plays both herself and her mother in a homemade advice show offering the busy senior’s surprising advice on love, life, parenting, religion, and how to upload your Weight Watcher points to the Cloud.
