Cornet Technology Leverages CALIENT’s 3D MEMS Technology to Deliver First JITC-Certified All-Optical Switch for DoD Optical Infrastructure Automation
August 29, 2012
SANTA BARBARA, Calif., August 29, 2012 – CALIENT Technologies, Inc., the global leader in photonic switching technology, today announced that Cornet Technology, Inc.’s ClearWave optical switch, using CALIENT’s patented 3D MEMS photonic switching technology, is the first all-optical switch to be JITC certified.
The ClearWave switch and IntelView element management software have been tested and certified by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) for interoperability and have been added to the Unified Capabilities Approved Product List (UC APL).
In federal agency networks, the ClearWave switch is used to create a scalable, flexible, switched network fabric, with total throughput of 32 Terabit/s that can be used in data consolidation, testing and disaster recovery, optical patch management, video teleconferencing, telecommunications and data center applications.
Each port on the ClearWave switch can support up to 100 Gbps data rates and within the switching fabric, the system supports a -60db separation to ensure information assurance adding a measure of security to applications while eliminating needless network element duplication.
“Defense networks need a stable and flexible cable plant and our ClearWave switch provides a network foundation upon which we can build secure network systems,” said Tom Bennett, President of Cornet Technology, Inc. “It’s important to us that we meet the standards of our defense and intelligence customer base, and with this new technology we are able to meet those needs.”
“Network infrastructure automation and control allows for flexible applications to meet DoD requirements of cost reduction and consolidation without a forklift upgrade,” said Glenn Stern, Vice President of Global Public Sector for CALIENT Technologies. “We see this partnership with Cornet Technology as a perfect opportunity to extend and strengthen our commitment to government customers.”
